Republicans try to make mud in a drought

This week, it became known that a couple of Congressional pages were engaged in semi-public, heterosexual, consensual oral sex. Of this incident, Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Florida, had this to say:

"Apparently Democrats didn't learn from the Mark Foley incident that pages need better supervision," Brown-Waite said. "Apparently they haven't learned anything." -CNN

Hmmm. If I recall the Rep. Mark Foley, R-Florida, incident, he was accused of making unwelcome suggestive comments towards pages of the same gender. The targeted page then attempted to tell the appropriate chain of command about the advances in order to stop them. That chain of command went straight through the office of Rep. Dennis Hastert, R-Illinois, where it was halted and silenced.

It seems to me that it wasn't the pages that needed better supervision.
